Oyce: Oops, fixed. The journal that told me it was IBAW didn't actually link the post, so I google searched. Probably should have been more careful -- like checking the date before posting. o.o;

Thanks for the post!

(psst, the link you've got is to last year's... this year's informational post is here: http://community.livejournal.com/ibarw/457.html)

Also, I completely agree with you with regard to the familiar discourse tactics involved.

This post is great. The reaction to the reaction of RE5 has left me sickened and ashamed. Most of the commenter have not been rationally considering the arguments against the game, and are just posting out of fear. Fear of their privilege and their precious RE being critiqued (I've loved the originals myself, the remakes on the gamecube are wonderful).

Whenever I talk about racism to one of my friends, he is always using the "Nobody complains when it's white-on-white" and it definitely does distract from the debate at hand, and almost railroads the entire discussion. Every time I try to debate with this guy on sexism or racism, he always pipes up with, "Yeah but what about men?" or "Yeah, but what about white people?" It's unbelievably frustrating. I haven't brought up the Resi5 controversy with him (and he's a huge Resi fan, so I know he'd be interested) for this very reason -- I know that the discussion will just be diverted, and I'll again be frustrated with his complete dismissal of the issues.
