Elayne: I'm flattered! This series doesn't have an end, though, which is why it's its own category, rather than being in the Series section. All the posts are collected in the Privilege in Action category, and it will also include any new posts I add in the future.

Andrea, I assume this is your final post in the series. I've bookmarked it for nominations in the 2007 Koufax Awards, and I think it would really help if you put links somewhere in the post to your previous ones in the series, so people can find them all in one place.

"By playing it up in the, “Well, that kind of stuff happens to me, too, and I don’t react so strongly!” He paints himself and his argument as rational, logical and correct and the non-privileged group’s reaction as emotional, illogical, and wrong. This is probably not even cold calculation on his part, but rather an honest attempt to understand the issue through his own experiences. But, when you are the one with power, you cannot assume that the situations you’ve faced are comparable to similar ones that people without power face."

The whole cheap attempt at humor and self-deprecation by Hannity really reminds me of when anytime men's sexual harassment against women, any of the hollaback stuff gets talked about...there's always that guy in the room who says "hey, I wish that stuff happened to me..but it never does! I wouldn't mind if a girl showed me her boobs or said she wanted to get in my pants, that'd be so awesome! right, guys?!"

But anyways, terrific post as usual.
