Great post. Even if we're not 'winning' in terms of an instantaneous mass cultural revolution(!!), by merely existing blogs like yours are a welcome voice for women. I know for myself, every time I read a feminist blog I feel stronger, just knowing you are all out there. And isn't that part of it? Gaining our self-esteem, sharing and connecting in positive ways. Gaining the confidence to fight small fights. I also believe it's important to do what we can for the future generations- because it's a long-term battle. Anyway, I love your blog! :D

props for another great post especially #3. I too find myself talking mostly about pop culture, media and all that because that's my main interest, but like you said, important to realize the battle on multiple levels and see others as supplementary/complimentary for the sake of synergy.

Beste said:

Tekanji,

You do realise that you’ve got me reading my whole comic book collection again.

Bwahaha. Actually you can blame Ragnell and Kalinara. They're the ones who compile WFA (where I found the link) and they've sucke me back in, too. Although since I'm in Japan, I've informed them that as soon as my Japanese gets good enough they're going to start reading posts about manga :)

Lea said:

(The Chaykin Red Sonja with a Penis is a keeper!)

Ahahaha. I think so too :)

Thanks for your comments, everyone. Hearing arguments like "you'll never win so it's not worth it to fight" always gets me down, but comments like these reminds me that I'm not in this alone.

Thank you, I'm encouraged by your post. Small fights aren't worthless ones, even if they're all I can handle.

Wel said, as are many of your other posts I've found, both from links from When Fangirls Attack, and by browsing. (The Chaykin Red Sonja with a Penis is a keeper!)

When I drew my line in the sand regarding sexism in the comics field in January (by saying I was no longer seeking "mainstream" work because the field is sexist), that was one of the first things I heard, and I heard it over and over, "But our culture is sexist," which seemed like I was being told, "Why bother? You'll never win."

My answer is, "This is where I choose to stand and fight." If I tackle the problem in an arena where I am passionate, where I am an expert, I can really do something.
