Studies & polls have found most are happy to pay for their socially responsible public policy (granted there were some selfish rich white men who left the country). Not that I think there's any hope of doing away with violence in my lifetime, but factors such as the recent high unemployment rates probably have more to do with the rise in domestic violence rates than anything else.
